Artist Statement
My paintings Blue Sea, 2007 and Chaos Unabridged, 2008 address the tracks of subatomic particles from a bubble chamber used for detecting particles of ionizing radiation. These tracks have distinctive shapes (for example, an alpha particle’s track is broad and straight, while an electron’s is thinner and shows more evidence of deflection). When a vertical magnetic field is applied, positively and negatively charged particles will curve in opposite direction.
My mixed media pieces address the tracks of subatomic particles within a diffused soft atmosphere creating a holographic image effect. The elements in my mixed media piece called Three Variations Series, 2008 explores the relationships of images in different modes of vibration, which underlie everything that happens in the universe.
